Keeping a dog can improve both your physical and mental health. Dogs owners have been shown to have reduced stress levels, low blood pressure, and a reduced risk of heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, dog owners have a twenty-four percent reduced risk of mortality. Dogs can also protect us physically by alerting us to dangers by barking or positioning themselves between us and the danger. Homes with dogs in them are a less appealing target for trespassers.

Dogs are also just incredibly silly animals. Sometimes, they just do things that we never expect them to, and we burst out laughing as a result. From sudden burst of energy (also known as “zoomies”), chasing their own tails, and licking us, there are countless things that dogs can do that make us start laughing.
